Stem cell therapy overview

Background information to help you have an informed conversation with our medical team.

What it is:

  • Our clinic uses mesenchymal stromal/stem cells (MSCs) derived from donated umbilical cord tissue (UC-MSC) from healthy, full-term births
  • Cells are prepared and quality-checked in our in-house laboratory, with a Certificate of Analysis for each batch
  • Treatment is given by injection, planned by our doctors after assessment

What research says:

  • MSCs are being studied for joint and tendon conditions, especially knee osteoarthritis
  • Studies differ in cell type, dose and method, so results from one study don't automatically apply to another approach
  • It is not suitable for everyone, and no specific result can be promised

Questions worth asking:

  • Am I a suitable candidate, and why?
  • What would the treatment involve and how many visits?
  • What are the alternatives for my condition?
  • What does it cost in total?
